The three-box hot and cold shock chamber is used to test the battery capacity. It mainly simulates different temperature environments and observes the capacity change of the battery after experiencing hot and cold shock. The specific steps are as follows:

Preparation before testing

Battery selection and pre-treatment: Select batteries of the same batch, model, specification and similar power status as test samples to ensure that there is no obvious damage to the appearance of the battery. Before testing, perform standard charging operations according to the battery manual to fully charge the battery.

Equipment inspection and setting: Check whether the refrigeration, heating and control systems of the three-box hot and cold shock chamber are operating normally. Set the parameters such as high temperature, low temperature and the number of cycles and conversion time of temperature shock required for the test. Generally speaking, the high temperature can be set at 50-60℃, the low temperature at -20--30℃, the conversion time is usually 3-5 minutes according to the performance of the chamber, and the number of cycles can be set to 5-10 times.

Connect the test chamber: Connect the fully charged battery to the high-precision battery capacity tester correctly to ensure a stable connection to avoid affecting the test results due to poor contact.

Initial capacity test: At room temperature (usually around 25°C), use a battery capacity tester to perform an initial capacity test on the battery, and record the battery capacity value at this time as the benchmark data for subsequent comparison.

Hot and cold shock test

High temperature shock: Place the battery in the high temperature box of the three-box hot and cold shock box, close the box door, start the chamber to raise the temperature in the box to the set high temperature value, and maintain it for a certain time, generally 2-4 hours, so that the battery can be fully stabilized in the high temperature environment.

Temperature conversion: After reaching the high temperature holding time, quickly transfer the battery to the low temperature box (through the automatic switching device of the chamber or manual quick transfer), ensuring that it is completed within the specified conversion time, so that the battery is subjected to cold shock. The temperature in the low temperature box needs to be maintained at the set low temperature value, and also maintained for 2-4 hours.

Cyclic shock: According to the above steps, complete the set number of high and low temperature cycles to make the battery experience multiple hot and cold shocks.

Capacity retest and data recording: After completing all hot and cold shock cycles, wait for the battery to recover at room temperature for 1-2 hours to make its temperature consistent with room temperature. Use the battery capacity tester to test the battery again and record the battery capacity value at this time. Compare the initial capacity and the capacity after the hot and cold shock, and calculate the capacity change rate. Capacity change rate = (initial capacity - capacity after shock) / initial capacity × 100%.

Data analysis and reporting: Organize and analyze the test data to evaluate the capacity stability of the battery under hot and cold shock conditions. Write a detailed test report based on the test results, including the test purpose, test method, test data, analysis conclusions, etc., to provide a basis for battery performance evaluation and improvement.

During the entire test process, strictly follow the operating procedures to ensure the accuracy and safety of the test. At the same time, repeated tests can improve the reliability of the data.
